How it works

5 steps to get a text whenever someone pings you in Discord

App connector: Schedule • Time to complete: 1 minute

Run on a recurring interval, for example every 5 minutes. Discord has no new-message trigger in MESA, so the workflow checks for new messages instead of waiting to be told.

List the most recent messages in the chosen channel, only those posted after the last message the previous run already handled.

App connector: Loop • Time to complete: 1 minute

Go through the returned messages one at a time.

App connector: Filter • Time to complete: 1 minute

Keep a message only if it mentions the chosen role ID or user ID, or mention_everyone is true, and the author is not a bot.

Text the author's name, the channel, and the first 300 characters of the message to the phone number you choose.

Why does this run on a schedule instead of the moment a message is posted?

MESA's Discord connector can read and post messages but has no new-message trigger, so the workflow checks the channel on a recurring interval. Running it every few minutes keeps the delay short.

Will I get texted for every message in the channel?

No. The filter step only passes messages that mention the role or person you choose, or use @everyone/@here, and it skips messages posted by bots.

Can I watch more than one channel?

Yes. Duplicate the workflow for each channel, or add another List Channel Message step for a second channel ID before the loop.
