It never ceases to amaze me how many Shopify sites have bad meta descriptions. Many of them just use the product description itself which is generally too long. Some of them crop the description off at 160 characters or so which technically fits the length for that field but isn’t going to give you the best content.
This is a great use case for AI.
I know, I know…you’re sick and tired of AI because it’s almost impossible to generate production-quality, usable content with it. Before you close the browser tab, let me explain why this is different.
GPT is much better at summarizing/condensing information accurately than it is at generating unique content out of a short prompt. And that’s exactly what we can do with Shopify sites, because we already have the product description to feed into the prompt.
And Google still cares about meta descriptions – they impact your SEO and users pay attention to them when searching.
