No configuration is needed - the trigger runs automatically whenever a customer's subscription generates a new order. This step passes the order data to the filtering step to check if it matches your specified order count criteria.

Why this matters: This filter ensures notes are only added to orders that match your specified count in the customer's subscription sequence, preventing unnecessary notes on every order.

You'll configure which order number in a customer's subscription should receive the note by entering a number in the "At which order in the customer's subscription should the order note be added?" field. For example, enter "4" to add notes only to fourth orders in each customer's subscription journey. The filter checks the incoming order against this criteria and only allows matching orders to proceed to the note-adding step. Orders that don't match your specified count will stop here and won't receive notes.

You'll customize the note text in the "What note will be added to the order?" field, with "Recharge Order 1" as the default example. The note gets appended to any existing order notes rather than replacing them, so you won't lose other important order information. The system automatically finds the correct Shopify order using the external order ID from Recharge and applies your note, making it visible in your Shopify admin and to your fulfillment team.

No, this workflow adds the same note to all orders matching your specified count. To add different notes for different order numbers (like "Order 1" vs "Order 5"), you'll need to create separate workflows with different order count filters and note text.
What happens if a customer skips an order in their subscription?
The filter looks at the actual sequence number of orders within that customer's subscription, not calendar timing. If a customer skips their third order but then receives their fourth order, that fourth order will be treated as order number 3 in the sequence.
Will this work with one-time Recharge orders or only subscriptions?
This workflow is designed specifically for subscription orders in Recharge. One-time orders won't have the subscription order count data needed for the filter to work properly, so they'll be ignored by this workflow.
