These details get passed to the AI step for tag generation.

The AI generates exactly 13 tags under 20 characters each, focusing on product type, materials, style, occasions, and gift potential while avoiding duplicates. The generated tags are stored in `{{ai.response}}` and formatted as a comma-separated list ready for Etsy's tag requirements.

Why this matters: This action automatically applies the AI-generated tags to your Etsy listing, completing the SEO optimization without manual copy-pasting.

This step takes the AI-generated tags from `{{ai.response}}` and updates your Etsy listing using the `{{etsy.listing_id}}` captured in step 1. You'll select the same Etsy shop you configured in step 1, and the workflow automatically populates the listing's tag field with the 13 optimized tags. The update happens immediately after the AI generates the tags, so your listing gets optimized within minutes of creation.

Frequently asked questions

Will this overwrite tags I've already added to my listings?
Yes, this workflow updates the entire tags field with the 13 AI-generated tags. If you want to keep some existing tags, you'll need to modify the AI prompt to incorporate them or run this only on brand-new listings without any tags.
What happens if the AI generates more or fewer than 13 tags?
The AI is specifically instructed to generate exactly 13 tags, but if it generates a different number, Etsy will accept up to 13 tags and ignore any extras. If fewer tags are generated, your listing will simply have fewer tags until you manually add more.
Can I preview the tags before they're added to my listing?
This workflow automatically applies tags without a review step. To preview tags first, you can modify the workflow by removing the "Update Listing" step and instead send the generated tags to yourself via email or Slack for approval before manually adding them.
