This step automatically fetches the full customer record from Shopify using the customer ID from the triggering order. It retrieves critical information like the customer's total spent amount, current tags, and contact details. No configuration is needed since it uses the customer ID from the previous step. The retrieved customer data, particularly the total spent value, flows into the filter step to check against your VIP threshold.

Why this matters: This condition determines which customers qualify for VIP status by comparing their lifetime spending against your defined threshold.

This step compares the customer's total lifetime spending against your configured dollar threshold to decide if they should be tagged as a VIP. You'll set the spending threshold in the "How much does the customer need to spend?" field - for example, enter "1500" for customers who have spent more than $1,500. The filter uses a "greater than" comparison, so customers must exceed your threshold amount. Only customers who meet this spending requirement will proceed to the tagging step.

This step automatically adds a "VIP" tag to customers who passed the spending threshold filter. The tag gets applied to the same customer from the triggering order, using their customer ID. No configuration is required since the tag name is pre-set as "VIP" and the customer ID comes from previous steps. Once tagged, you can use this VIP designation to create targeted marketing campaigns, special discounts, or prioritized customer service.

Yes, you can edit the tag name in Step 4 from "VIP" to any custom tag like "Premium Customer" or "High Value" to match your store's terminology.
What happens if a customer's total spending drops below the threshold due to refunds?
The workflow doesn't remove VIP tags automatically. Once a customer is tagged as VIP, the tag remains even if refunds reduce their lifetime spending below your threshold.
