How it works

Follow these 2 simple steps to copy orders from your main store to another Shopify store

Order Created

App connector: Shopify • Time to complete: 2 minutes
Why this matters: This trigger monitors your source store and activates the workflow whenever a new order is placed, capturing all the order data needed for replication.

This step automatically detects when someone places an order in your source Shopify store and retrieves the complete order information including customer details, line items, shipping addresses, payment data, and applied discounts. You'll need to connect your source Shopify store account where orders will be monitored. The system captures every order detail automatically, so no additional configuration is required once your store is connected. All this order data then gets passed to the next step for processing.

Create Order

App connector: Shopify • Time to complete: 2 minutes
Why this matters: This action recreates the captured order in your destination store with identical details, maintaining consistency across both stores while adding an "Imported order" tag for tracking.

This step takes all the order data from the trigger and creates a duplicate order in your second Shopify store with the same customer information, line items, pricing, shipping details, and discounts applied. You'll need to connect your destination Shopify store account and the system will automatically map all fields including customer email, billing/shipping addresses, product variants, quantities, prices, discount codes, shipping lines, and tax information. The workflow adds "Imported order" to the tags field along with any existing tags to help you identify replicated orders. The inventory behavior is set to "bypass" so it won't affect stock levels in the destination store.

Make it your own

Customize this workflow even further:

Add order filters
Set up conditions to only copy certain types of orders, such as orders over a specific dollar amount, from particular sales channels, or containing specific product tags.
Transform customer data
Modify customer information during the copy process, like changing email domains for testing environments or updating customer tags for different store segments.
Send notifications
Connect Slack, email, or SMS steps to alert your team whenever an order gets successfully copied between stores, including order details and any processing errors.
Store replication logs
Save detailed records of all order copying activity in Google Sheets or Airtable, tracking timestamps, order numbers, success rates, and any data transformation applied.

Frequently asked questions

Will this duplicate orders if I run it on existing orders?
No, this workflow only triggers on newly created orders going forward. It won't process historical orders that already exist in your source store, so you won't get duplicates when you first activate the template.
Can I copy orders between stores with different currencies?
Yes, the workflow preserves the original currency and presentment currency from the source order. However, you'll want to make sure your destination store is configured to handle the same currencies, or the order creation might fail.
What happens if a product variant doesn't exist in my destination store?
The order creation will fail for that specific order because Shopify requires valid variant IDs. You'll need to ensure matching products exist in both stores, or consider adding a step to map variant IDs between stores before creating the order.
