Send Orders From One Shopify Store To Another

3 min setup
No coding required
Runs automatically

Managing two Shopify stores means every order placed in one needs to show up in the other — and doing that manually is tedious, error-prone, and doesn't scale. This template automatically forwards new orders from your source store to a destination store the instant they're created, carrying over everything: customer info, line items, shipping details, discounts, and order notes. No copy-pasting, no missed orders, no lag.

How it works

2 steps to start automatically duplicating new orders from one Shopify store to another

Order Created

App connector: Shopify • Time to complete: 0 minutes (Auto-configured)
Why this matters: This is what kicks off the entire workflow. Without this trigger, the automation has no way of knowing when a new order arrives and nothing gets sent to your second store.

Every time a new order is placed in your source Shopify store, this trigger fires and captures the full order record — customer details, line items, shipping info, discounts, and more. No configuration is needed beyond connecting your source Shopify store to MESA. The trigger is set to fire on every new order by default, so every order gets forwarded automatically. All the data collected here flows directly into the next step to recreate the order.

Create Order

App connector: Shopify • Time to complete: 2 minutes
Why this matters: This is where the order actually gets created in your destination store. It maps every meaningful field from the original order — line items, customer info, pricing, shipping, and discounts — so the replicated order is complete and accurate.

This step creates a new order in your second Shopify store using the data captured by the trigger. It carries over a wide range of fields including the customer's billing and shipping address, line items (with variant ID, SKU, quantity, price, and any custom properties), shipping lines, discount codes, taxes, and order notes. The tag "Imported order" is automatically appended to the tags field so you can easily identify forwarded orders in your destination store — you can add additional tags here if needed, separated by commas. To activate this step, connect your destination Shopify store account in the step settings.

Frequently asked questions

Will this duplicate orders if I run it on existing orders?

No, this workflow only triggers on newly created orders going forward. It won't process historical orders that already exist in your source store, so you won't get duplicates when you first activate the template.

Can I copy orders between stores with different currencies?

Yes, the workflow preserves the original currency and presentment currency from the source order. However, you'll want to make sure your destination store is configured to handle the same currencies, or the order creation might fail.

What happens if a product variant doesn't exist in my destination store?

The order creation will fail for that specific order because Shopify requires valid variant IDs. You'll need to ensure matching products exist in both stores, or consider adding a step to map variant IDs between stores before creating the order.

Customize this workflow even further:

Filter by order tags or sales channel
Only forward orders that meet specific criteria — like orders tagged "wholesale" or placed through a particular sales channel — by adding a Filter step before the Create Order action. This keeps your destination store clean and relevant.
Notify your team when an order is forwarded
Add a Slack or email step after the Create Order action to alert your fulfillment team or a specific channel every time an order lands in the destination store, including the order number and customer name.
Sync fulfillment status back to the source store
Extend the workflow in reverse: when an order in the destination store is fulfilled, trigger a second workflow that updates the fulfillment status on the original order in your source store, keeping both stores in sync.
Tag customers in the destination store
After creating the order, add a step that looks up or creates the customer record in the destination store and applies a tag like "multi-store" or "forwarded" to segment them for future marketing.
