Create Square Customer Profiles for New Shopify Customers

Run whenever a customer is created in Shopify, from an online checkout, an account signup or the admin. The customer carries id, first_name, last_name, email, phone, tags and default_address.

Continue only if the Shopify customer has an email and does not have the tag square-pos. That tag marks customers the Square-to-Shopify workflow copied over, who already have a Square profile.

Search Square customers with an exact email_address filter set to the Shopify customer's email, lowercased and trimmed of spaces.

Continue only if the search returned no Square customer. Square doesn't check for duplicates when a profile is created, so this check is what keeps the directory clean.

Create a Square customer with the Shopify first name, last name, email, phone and default address, and set reference_id to the Shopify customer ID.

Set a customer metafield, namespace square and key customer_id, on the Shopify customer to the new Square customer ID, so later workflows can find the Square profile directly.
