Etsy Low-Inventory Restock Brief with Claude to Slack

6 min setup
No coding required
Runs automatically

Checking every Etsy listing's stock count by hand means low inventory often surfaces only after a listing has already sold out. This workflow checks your inventory on a schedule, has Claude draft a restock brief naming which SKUs are running low along with recent sell-through, and posts it straight to a Slack channel your team already watches.

How it works

4 steps to catch low Etsy inventory before you stock out

schedule icon

Recurring Schedule (Trigger)

App connector: Schedule • Time to complete: 1 minute
Why this matters: This sets how often MESA checks your inventory levels. Without a schedule, low stock could sit unnoticed until a listing actually sells out.

This step runs the workflow on a recurring basis, for example daily or every few days. You configure how often MESA should check your Etsy inventory. A tighter schedule catches drops sooner but sends more frequent briefs, so match the frequency to how quickly your stock actually moves. Once triggered, MESA retrieves your current listing inventory for the next step.

Retrieve Listing Inventory

App connector: Etsy • Time to complete: 0 minutes (Auto-configured)
Why this matters: This is where MESA gets the actual stock numbers to check. Without it, there's no inventory data for Claude to evaluate.

MESA calls Etsy's Retrieve Listing Inventory action for each active listing in your shop, pulling the current quantity on hand per SKU. This runs automatically and requires no configuration. The quantities retrieved here, along with recent order history, are passed forward so Claude can identify which SKUs are running low.

Ask Claude to Draft a Restock Brief

App connector: Claude • Time to complete: 2 minutes
Why this matters: This is where raw inventory numbers become something you can actually act on. Instead of scanning a spreadsheet of SKU counts, you get a plain-English brief naming exactly what needs attention.

Claude reviews the inventory quantities from the previous step alongside recent order volume for each SKU, then drafts a brief naming which listings are running low and how quickly they've been selling. You configure the low-stock threshold Claude should flag against, for example anything under 10 units on hand. Claude also notes which flagged SKUs are selling fastest, so you can prioritize reorders. The finished brief is passed to the next step for delivery.

Send Restock Brief to Slack

App connector: Slack • Time to complete: 2 minutes
Why this matters: This is what actually gets the brief in front of you. Without this step, Claude's analysis would stay inside the workflow and never reach anyone who could act on it.

MESA posts Claude's restock brief as a message to a Slack channel you specify. You configure which channel the brief should post to; open the channel in Slack, click its name at the top, and copy the Channel ID from the details panel. The message includes the SKUs Claude flagged as low along with their recent sell-through, so your team can see what to reorder without opening Etsy.

FAQs

How does Claude decide what counts as low stock?

You set the threshold Claude checks against, for example 10 units or fewer. Claude flags any SKU at or below that number and includes it in the brief, and you can adjust the number to match how far in advance you like to reorder.

What if my shop has no low-stock listings when the workflow runs?

Claude still reviews the inventory data, but if nothing meets your threshold, it can note that stock levels look healthy rather than sending an empty or misleading Slack message. You control this in Claude's instructions.

Can I send the brief to more than one Slack channel?

Yes. Duplicate the Send Restock Brief to Slack step and configure a second channel, for example if you want a short summary in a general channel and full detail in an operations channel.

Personalize this template

Customize this workflow even further:

Route different categories to different channels
Add a condition before the Slack step that checks a listing's category or tag, then send briefs for different product lines to the channels the right teams already watch, for example jewelry to one channel and home goods to another.
Turn the brief into a purchase order
Add a Google Sheets or Airtable step after the Claude step to log each flagged SKU as a row, giving you a running reorder list you can hand straight to a supplier instead of retyping it from the Slack message.
Set different thresholds by product type
Fast-moving and slow-moving products rarely share the same reorder point. Adjust Claude's instructions to apply a higher threshold to your best sellers and a lower one to niche or seasonal items.
